Mozzarella Stick Fries

Mozzarella Stick Fries

 


Total time: 80 minutes

Prep time: 25 minutes, Cook time: 40 minutes, Rest time: 15 minutes

Ingredients for 6 people

3 large blocks mozzarella

Flour

6 eggs

Breadcrumbs

Frying oil

3 large tomatoes

3 tsp dried parsley

1 1/2 tsp dried oregano

Basil leaves

3 tbsp tomato paste

3 garlic heads

Salt & pepper

3 tbsp olive oil

Fresh parsley


Tools

Paper towels

3 oven safe bowls

Immersion blender


Step 1/4

Cut 3 mozzarella blocks in half, then place each half upright and make 3 vertical cuts 3/4 of the way down, then 3 horizontal cuts 3/4 of the way down. Coat each half in flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs. After place in the freezer for 10 - 15 minutes.

Step 2/4

Fry the mozzarella blocks in hot oil at 350 °F until golden brown. Remove excess oil with paper towels and set aside.

Step 3/4

Remove the stem from 3 large tomatoes and place in small bowls on a baking tray. Next add 1 tsp dried parsley, 1/2 tsp oregano, basil leaves, 1 tbsp tomato paste, and a garlic head to the center of each tomato. Sprinkle with salt and pepper and drizzle with 1 tbsp olive oil each, then bake for 30-40 minutes at 350 °F.

Step 4/4

Let cool slightly, then remove the garlic head from the tomato and squeeze the roasted garlic cloves out. Mix with an immersion blender, then serve with the mozzarella stick fries. Sprinkle with parsley and enjoy!
